Looks like my magsafe power adapter is on its way out. Excellent. I’m not alone though - these reviews[1] are full of similar experiences. How, exactly, do apple get away with that?

BBC Backstage - minibar podcast →
Recorded at the Minibar unconference thingy. Not too much of interest although it’s quite funny hearing one chap talk about scaling their app “and stuff”. The one app that sounded interesting was hypernumbers.com (not live yet).
Fooled by Randomness - Wikipedia, the free... →
I finished reading this a couple of days ago (although I intend to re-read it too). Ben G recommended it. Two things stick in my mind. 1) Don’t be ashamed of changing your mind. 2) Humans are unable to think in the abstract (I know that I can’t).
The Long Tail: Sorry PR people: you're blocked →
Chris Anderson of Wired (and Long Tail) fame publicly lists a whole bunch of email addresses that he’s blacklisting. I don’t suffer this problem at all but I still appreciate the very direct approach he’s taking.
chrisroos: Wondering why AIM just popped up to say I was signed into a different computer. I certainly shouldn’t be! (via Twitter / chrisroos)
Macworld: Mac Gems: Mac mini, Windows Keyboard →
Handy little article that told me how to eject a CD-ROM from a Mac Mini using only a Windows keyboard. Looks like there may be some other useful info in here too.
D'oh. It probably wasn't important anyway.

chrisroos: @beng - I waited for about 10 minutes before realising that the disk contained a linux file system. A disk erase and all is now fine. Oops (via Twitter / chrisroos)
chrisroos: Trying to install Mac OS X on a Mac Mini. Hmm, it’s hanging on ‘select a destination volume’. (via Twitter / chrisroos)
Whitehat SEO tips for bloggers →
Matt Cutts article that mentions underscores and dashes “But note that I also said if youâd already made your site with underscores, it probably wasnât worth trying to migrate all your urls over to dashes. If youâre starting fresh, Iâd still pick
all noise - all the time →
He he he. Fun to be had by changing the images that are being stolen from your site. I think Paul has done something similar.
MicroID draft spec →
Another MicroID draft specification. And what’s this? I’ve got an ‘acknowledgement’ yay. I think I’ve kinda gone off MicroID now though.
Limited password policy on Crowdstorm... →
My question about the crowdstorm password policies.
Crowdstorm →
I’ve just signed up to the crowdstorm beta site to have a play.
CouchDb Project Website →
The CouchDB homepage. Hey, it’s written in Erlang - it must be cool.
Sam Ruby: CouchDB Round-up →
I keep reading a lot about couchdb. It kinda feels as though it may be relevant to some of the discussions we’ve been having at work recently. But then, it may not be. Who knows.
Demand Satisfaction! » Satisfaction this week →
Three great examples of companies getting the whole honesty/transparency thang going on.
Macworld: First Look: Leopard first looks: iChat →
Hmm, actually it seems that the screen sharing stuff in Leopard may just use VNC under the hood. I was kinda hoping it’d be a slightly faster protocol. Oh well.

It would appear that Leopard has some inbuilt screen sharing stuff. Maybe useful for remote pairing and inturn give me a reason to upgrade…
Skype gone (really) mobile: 3 Skypephone puts free... →
The new skype phone. You know, I must just get myself one of these.
Mistaeks I Hav Made: The XP Day Review Process →
An article that shows the importance of feedback. Conference talks were submitted early, reviewed and revised to mirror the things that people were actually interested in. Feedback rules.

Some coverage of the recent google ranking shuffles.

“My executive summary: Journalists are lazy and biased. It is of little solace that they are more lazy than biased.” The journalists are just coming in for more and more flack. Bless ‘em.

Made me smile. I haven’t looked at the site in question so can’t comment but it still made me smile.
Soocial | Blog - Upcoming Soocial Beta release -... →
I find it quite interesting that they’re blogging about testing. Wondering if their main audience is the tech crowd or whether ‘normal people’ are starting to understand the importance of testing (nah, probably not).
FriendFeed →
This appears to do the specific task that I use tumblr to do. Namely, combining a bunch of feeds and allowing other users to subscribe to them. Actually, is there anything here that you can’t currently do in tumblr? It doesn’t appear so.
Bug.gd: Collaborative Search And Bug Solutions →
Sounds like quite a nice idea. Although solutions can often be found in existing forum threads - that doesn’t feel like the right place for them. Moving them to their own database is probably the right thing to do. Not sure how it’ll work in practice.

BlueBlog: AdaptiveBlue’s SmartLinks Automatically... →
Interesting on two fronts. 1) It might solve some of the problem of finding a canonical representation of the subject you’re talking about. 2) Similar (even in lightbox execution) of having reviews pop-up on any page.
Bugs? Especially international bugs.. →
This is cool. Matt Cutts of google is requesting bug reports from users of google. Granted, lots of the comments are not actual bug reports, but it’s cool none-the-less.
Lijit | Home →
Makers of a little search widget for your blog. It appears to just wrap google custom search but they don’t mention that anywhere. The interface for selecting your profiles on other sites is pretty cool though. I won’t use this.
Lijit | chrisroos →
My profile on lijit. It’ll just be a wrapper around google custom search then.

Apparently I’ve got an account on reddit. I have no idea when I would’ve set this up.
I Want Sandy →
Saw this bookmarked by Paul and thought it sounded interesting. I’ve signed up for my beta invite. Sandy (who’s not a real person apparently) is going to help sort out my life. Good huh.

Made me smile. We’re looking at ‘viral marketing campaigns’ at the moment aren’t we?
